Suite i gConamara ár linne, tá gach carachtar in Cúigear Chonamara gafa i saol atá ag plúchadh an spioraid iontu. Caitheann an dráma súil ar an nádúr daonna, agus ní chuirfidh sé díomá ar bith ar lucht léite leabhair Mhichíl – le blaiseadh den ghreann, den bhrón, den chairdeas agus den naimhdeas ann. Bhuaigh Cúigear Chonamara Duais Fhoras na Gaeilge ag Seachtain na Scríbhneoirí i Lios Tuathail i mbliana. Is é seo an chéad dráma atá scríofa ag Micheál Ó Conghaile, cé go bhfuil dhá shaothar le Martin McDonagh aistrithe aige; Banríon Álainn an Líonáin (The Beauty Queen of Leenane) agus Ualach an Uaignis (The Lonesome West).
Cúigear Chonamara is set in modern-day Connemara, and explores the lives of five characters, each of whom is trapped in a life that is draining their spirits. At times humorous, and at times poignant, this play is another feather in the cap of its esteemed writer. Cúigear Chonamara won the Foras na Gaeilge prize at the Listowel Writers Week this year, and also won the Stuart Parker Award. It is Micheál Ó Conghaile’s first play, although he has previously translated two works by Martin McDonagh; Banríon Álainn an Líonáin (The Beauty Queen of Leenane) and Ualach an Uaignis (The Lonesome West).
