“Sí an Spáinnis an aon-teanga atá ag tabhairt dúshlán an Bhéarla go sonrach mar aon-theanga ar a fhód dúchais sin nó áth-dhúchais, is é sin in Ameiricea Thuaidh” Sin a deir an t-údar i réamhrá an leabhair seo agus sin an fáth, b’fhéidir gur aistriúcháin ón Chaistílis, ón Chatalóinis, agus ón Ghailísis líon mór na ndánta sa chnuasach seo. Tá a thuilleadh ann ón Arabais, ón Bhéarla, ón Fhraincis, ón Laidin, ón Ollannais, ón Phrovansáilis, agus naoi ndán agus daichead a chum sé féin. Tá tréimhsí fada caite ag an údar thar lear sa tseirbhís taidhleoireachta.
“Spanish is the only language to challenge English in its home country, or to be more correct its adopted country, that is North America” writes the author of this collection of poetry in the introduction. This may explain why many of the poems are translations from Castilian, Catalan and Galician. There are also translations from Arabic, English, French, Latin, Dutch, Provence, as well as forty nine original poems by the author himself who has spent long periods abroad in the Diplomatic Service.
