This is the first in a series of handbooks which attempts to help readers repossess their literary heritage by providing them with selected passages with explanation. The extracts here are from literature of the 16th century and have been put in modern Irish.
There is a stimulating article by the editor at the beginning of the each section and some questions at the end of some of the extracts which aim to encourage the reader to return to the passage and view it from a different perspective.
