In Árainn a rugadh Liam Ó Flaithearta, sa bhliain 1896. Chaith sé tamall ina shaighdiúir sa Chéad Chogadh Mór agus sa Chogadh Cathartha ina dhiaidh sin, tamall ag taisteal an domhain ar bord loinge, tamall sa Bowery, Nua-Eabhrac, sular tharraing sé an scríbhneoireacht chuige féin mar cheird ag tús na 1920idí. Tá cáil dhomhanda ar a chuid úrscéalta agus gearrscéalta, atá ar fáil ina lán teangacha. Bhásaigh sé sa bhliain 1984. Ba é Dúil an t-aon leabhar Gaeilge leis a foilsíodh lena bheo.
Liam Ó Flaithearta was born in the Aran Islands in 1896. He spent time as a soldier in the First World War and the Civil War, a while traveling the world on board a ship, a while in the Bowery, New York, before he set upon writing as a craft in the 1920’s. He is renowned worldwide for his novels and short stories, that are available in many languages. He died in 1984. Dúil was the only Irish language book of his that was published during his lifetime.
