On the 24th of March 1918 in an incident that occurred in Carrigaholt in County Clare, Tomás Ruiséal, a teacher and a volunteer from Kilcooley Commons near Ballydavid, was bayonetted. He died three days later. It is said that his funeral was the biggest ever held in West Kerry. This is his story.
