Nuair a deir Eoghainín le Ciarán (nó Cío mar is fearr aithne air) go bhfuil sé aerach agus nach mbeidh sé in ann peil a imirt dá bharr, tá sé trína chéile. Ní thuigeann sé an focal ‘aerach’ ach bheadh sé croíbhriste mura mbeadh sé in ann imirt ar fhoireann na scoile agus b’fhéidir ar fhoireann an chontae lá éigin.

Caithfidh deirfiúracha móra na beirte a ladar a chur sa scéal agus a thaispeáint don bheirt óg gur cuma faoi chlaonadh gnéis agus gur féidir le gach duine a rogha rud a dhéanamh.

Agus an t-aighneas á réiteach idir na buachaillí óga, áfach, an féidir sean- aighneas peile idir na déagóirí a réiteach freisin? An féidir leo a bheith ina naimhde ar an bpáirc pheile agus ina gcairde arís nuair atá an cluiche thart?

When Eoghainín tells Ciarán (or Cío, as he is better known) that he is gay and won’t be able to play football because of it, he is upset. He doesn’t understand the word ‘gay,’ but he would be heartbroken if he couldn’t play on the school team and maybe on the county team someday.

Their older sisters have to get involved in the story and show the two young boys that sexual orientation doesn’t matter and that everyone can do whatever they choose.

But while the disagreement between the young boys is being sorted out, can an old football rivalry between the teenagers also be resolved? Can they be enemies on the football field and friends again once the game is over?
