Professor Máirtín Ó Murchú reviews some aspects of the fortunes of the Irish language during the latter half of the 20th century, especially “The Withdrawal” of the State from the efforts to revive the Language. He refers in detail to the education system and to the crisis affecting the dictionary needs of the language.
