Ó Maoláin was born in Inis Mór, Aran on April 17, 1881. He moved to Dublin in 1899. He was involved with many national groups, Irish League, Irish Society, Irish Republican Brotherhood, etc.. Here's his story. This is an account of the background of the series of essays he wrote in Ar Aghaidh (1947-48) under the title 1913.He was a great friend of James Larkin who founded the Irish Worker.
