Description

The Anvy
Pádraig Standún
Cló Iar-Chonnachta 1993
(Bog) ISBN 1 874700 80 X

Aistriúchán a rinne an t-údar féin ar An t-Ainmhí, saothar leis a foilsíodh a chéaduair sa bhliain 1992.

Already hailed in Irish as a great read, this is an extraordinary but totally credible tale of a strange beast that stalks an island community by night. Children have seen the ‘Anvy’ and say he is a hairy, naked, harmless creature. Others are not so sure. Is he man or beast, púca or devil? Maybe he doesn’t exist at all. Islanders go about their daily business in a rapidly changing world, graphically and often uproariously depicted by Standún. Earthy, eerie . . . a book with a warm, pulsating heart..
