Galway-based Johnston is a multi-award winning writer, poet and journalist and initiated CÚIRT in 1986, Galway’s annual poetry festival. He received an Arts Council Bursary in Literature in 1993 and was appointed Writer in Residence to Galway Library. He is also a key member of folk group Parson’s Hat.
