The organising principles adopted by the editors in this fascicle are much the same as in the two previously published volumes. More material from later than 1800 is included, exceptions being made only where deemed essential. Similarly omitted from consideration here are State Papers and Fiants; where there is doubt about the Gaelic character of names, especially in non-vernacular texts, as a rule there are not included.
