Thug Dia na Deich nAitheanta do Mhaois ar bharr Shliabh Shíonáí agus rinne na hIosraeilítigh soitheach óir chun na leaca cloiche, ar a raibh dlí Dé scríofa, a choinneáil slán. Tugadh go hIarúsailéim Áirc seo an Chonartha agus bhí sí i dTeampall Sholaimh ar feadh i bhfad. Ach cá ndeachaigh sí? Mar ní raibh tásc ná tuairisc uirthi nuair a scrios na Bablónaigh an teampall sa séú céad RCh. Ná ní raibh aon trácht uirthi nuair a scrios na Rómhánaigh an dara teampall i 70AD. Ach bhí ráflaí riamh ann go ndeachaigh an Áirc go dtí an Aetóip.

Sa leabhar seo leanann Frank Reidy turas na hÁirce ó Iarúsailéim go dtí an Aetóip. Cíorann sé stair agus seanchas na hÁirce agus tagann sé ar thuiscint nua ar an Áirc, ar a stádas agus an tábhacht a bhaineann léi san Aetóip. Tugtar léargas nua anseo ar thír nach mbíonn luaite léi go minic ach ocras, anró agus bás. Os a choinne sin léiritear gáire agus gliondar, aois agus uaisleacht, creideamh agus cairdeas: taisteal, taiscéalaíocht agus tráchtaireacht curtha os ár gcomhair mar lón anama agus machnaimh.

God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses on the top of Mount Sinai and the Israelites made a golden vessel in order to preserve the stone tablets on which God’s law was written. Named the Ark of the Covenant this vessel was brought to Jerusalem where it was kept in the Temple at Shiloh for many years thereafter. The mystery begins then. Where was the Ark of the Covenant brought after that? There was no sign of the Ark of the Covenant when the Babylonians destroyed the temple in the 6th century BC. Nor were there any reports of the Ark when the Romans destroyed the second temple at Shiloh in 70AD. But there were always rumours that the Ark had been brought to Ethiopia.

In this book, Frank Reidy follows the journey of the Ark from Jerusalem to Ethiopia. He investigates the history and folklore of the Ark and he finds a new understanding of the Ark, its status and the importance of the Ark in Ethiopia.  In this book he gives new insights into a country that is rarely mentioned except in the context of famine and strife. In stark contrast to the common portrayals of Ethiopia this book is full of laughter, joy, history, faith and friendship. This is a journey of discovery.
