Sleachta as an-chuid leabhar maille le beathaisnéisí a n-údar atá sa chnuasach seo. Os cionn céad scríbhneoir atá ann, cuid acu as Éirinn, ach a bhformhór ó gach cearn den iasacht. Cuirfidh sé ar chumas gnáthléitheoirí na Gaeilge blas a fháil ar litríocht an domhain ina dteanga féin.

Tá de chead againn cleite a thógáil as sciathán aon litríochta in aon teanga is mian linn agus ár gcuid féin a dhéanamh de ar mhaithe lenár riachtanais teanga agus aigne. I ndeireadh na dála, níl de litríocht ann ach litríocht an chine dhaonna, ach is iomaí cruth ar leith faoina dtagann sí chugainn.

Tá neart údar agus leabhar neamhchoitianta aimsithe ag Risteárd Mac Annraoi anseo. Tá réimse fairsing aistriúcháin bainte aige as leabhair, irisí agus nuachtáin éagsúla, agus aistriú déanta aige féin freisin. Scéal as an nua a bheidh in a lán den saothar seo, a chuirfidh gliondar ar a gcroí agus a thabharfaidh spreagadh intinne do léitheoirí. Tá lón aigne agus anama curtha ar fáil anseo chun réimsí na saíochta Gaeilge a leathnú.

This collection contains extracts from a great number of books along with biographies of the authors. There are one hundred writers in the collection, some of whom are from Ireland, but most hail from of all corners of world. It will enable the ordinary reader of Irish to get a taste of worldwide literature in their own language.

We are permitted to take a feather from any literary wing, so to speak, in our choice of language and make our own of it for the purposes of our own linguistic and mental needs. Ultimately, literature is but literature of humanity, but there are many unique shapes under which it is conveyed to us.

Risteárd Mac Annraoi has obtained plenty of authors and rare books here. He has taken a wide range of translations from various books, magazines and newspapers, and he has also provided some translations himself. Much of the work contained here will be a new story, which will delight the hearts and provide mental stimulation to readers. This collection provides food for thought, both mental and spiritual, to extend the range of Irish learning.
