Cois Abhann na Séad
Eilís Ní Shúilleabháin

Traditional Songs from Muskerry

As Cúil Aodha i nGaeltacht Mhúscraí d’Eilís Ní Shúilleabháin, an té is sine de mhórsheisear clainne a bhí ar Nóra Ní Éalaithe agus Maidhcí Ó Súilleabháin. Teaghlach ciúin cúthaileach gan mustar iad na Súilleabhánaigh agus is léir an tréith sin ina gcuid amhránaíochta. Duine banúil mín mánla í Eilís a bhfuil pléisiúr á thabhairt aici le blianta fada d’éisteoirí ar fud na tíre lena hamhránaíocht bhinn íogair. Tá sean-nós na mBan buaite aici agus an dara háit i gCorn Uí Riada (1991). Bronnadh Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life uirthi i 1997.

Debut album from one of the finest singers of the sean-nós stronghold of Cúil Aodha in the West Cork Gaeltacht. Eilís has proudly and ably upheld and shared that rich musical inheritance at gatherings, festivals and competitions throughout Ireland for many years. She has won Sean-Nós na mBan and was placed second to Lillis Ó Laoire in Corn Uí Riada at Oireachtas 1991 in Dublin. Frequently gives workshops and concerts and teaches singing in the Music Department of UCC. Was awarded Gradam Shean-Nós Cois Life in 1997 for her contribution to the sean-nós tradition of her native Muskerry.
