SONG OF THE SEA tells the story of Ben and his little sister Saoirse -the last remaining ‘seal-child’- as they go on an amazing journey into the magical world of ancient legend in an attempt to return to their seaside town.

The film takes inspiration from the mythological folklore of Ireland, according to which, there are immortal hybrid creatures, -‘Selkies’- that live as seals in the sea and live as humans on land.

The voices of Brendan Gleeson, Fionnula Flanagan, David Rawle, Lisa Hannigan, Pat Shortt and Jon Kenny can all be heard in Amhrán na Mara.The film is directed by Tomm Moore, and composer Bruno Coulais, working alongside the Irish band Kila composed the music for the film. They previously collaborated on The Secret of Kells.
