Scéal faoi na heachtraí a tharlaíonn d'fhear óg ó Chontae Liatroma, oifigeach in Óglaigh na hÉireann, agus é ar thóir fealltóra. Tá sé mar dhualgas air é a bhású. Leanann sé an fealltóir go dtí Toronto, Ceanada, agus go dtí an Yukon. Scéal an-chorraitheach atá bunaithe ar fhíoreachtraí a tharla do dhuine ar thug lucht an Bhéarla ‘Mad Trapper' air i gCeanada le linn na dtríochadaí san fichiú aois. Mistéir a bhí san nGaistí Geilt seo agus tá go leor teoiricí san aer i gCeanada fós faoi. Cérbh é? Cárbh as do? An bhfuair na Marcphóilíní a bhfear le fírinne? Ar mharaigh siad é nó ar éirigh leis éalú? Níl aon duine cinnte, fós féin. Scéal dochreidte é seo faoin daontóraíocht is mó riamh i gCeanada. Chaith na céadta fear seacht seachtainní ar thóir Albert Johnson thar 150 míle den Tuaisceart Reoite. Gabhadh agus maraíodh sa deireadh é, deirtear, ach tá éiginnteacht ann faoi cérbh é Gaistí Geilt, agus is mistéir fós é.

Bhronn Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada an chéad duais ar Gaistí Geilt ina chomórtas úrscéalaíochta don bhfoghlaimeoir fásta.

A story of the events which occur to a young man from County Leitrim, an officer with the Irish Volunteers in search of a traitor. It is his duty to kill him. He follows the traitor to Toronto, Canada, and to the Yukon. A very Exciting story based on real life events which happened to a person called the ‘Mad Trapper' in Canada during the thirties of the twentieth century. This Gaistí Geilt was a mystery and there are many theories throughout Canada still in relation to him. Who was he? Where did he come from? Did the marksmen really obtain their target? Did they kill him or did he manage to escape? Nobody is certain, even today. This is an incredible story in relation to the largest manhunt in Canada. Hundreds of men spent seven week hunting down Albert Johnson across 150 miles of the frozen northern regions of Canada. He was eventually caught and killed, apparently, but with a air of mystery in relation to Gaistí Geilt and who he was and that remains a mystery today.

Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada awarded Gaistí Ceilt the first prize in its novel-writing competition for adult learners.
