Preface
Brian Ó Cuív retired as Senior Professor from the School of Celtic Studies on 20 November 1988. Soon afterwards, on the completion of Volume 20, he relinquished the editorship of Celtica, having been sole editor for nine consecutive issues.
In the circumstances it seemed proper, as an interim mark of esteem for his diligent industry on behalf of Celtica as well as for his outstanding and continuing contribution to Irish and Celtic Studies, that the next volume to appear should be dedicated to him.
